Azure SDK 1.8 Cache worker role on Windows 8 RRS feed

  • Question

  • We recently upgraded our development machines to windows 8 and now all our local development cache worker roles are throwing timeout exceptions after a few minutes. This was never the case with our old environment running Windows 7. See error below:

    error:{"Message":"An error has occurred.","ExceptionMessage":"ErrorCode<ERRCA0018>:SubStatus<ES0001>:The request timed out.. Additional Information : The client was trying to communicate with the server: net.tcp://127.255.0.0:20004/.","ExceptionType":"Microsoft.ApplicationServer.Caching.DataCacheException","StackTrace":" at Microsoft.ApplicationServer.Caching.DataCache.ThrowException(ErrStatus errStatus, Guid trackingId, Exception responseException, Byte[][] payload, EndpointID destination)\r\n at Microsoft.ApplicationServer.Caching.SocketClientProtocol.ExecuteApi(IVelocityRequestPacket request, IMonitoringListener listener)\r\n at Microsoft.ApplicationServer.Caching.SocketClientProtocol.Upsert(VelocityPacketType type, String key, Object value, DataCacheItemVersion oldVersion, TimeSpan timeout, DataCacheTag[] tags, String region, IMonitoringListener listener)\r\n at Microsoft.ApplicationServer.Caching.SocketClientProtocol.Put(String key, Object value, DataCacheItemVersion oldVersion, TimeSpan timeout, DataCacheTag[] tags, String region, IMonitoringListener listener)\r\n at Microsoft.ApplicationServer.Caching.DataCache.InternalPut(String key, Object value, DataCacheItemVersion oldVersion, TimeSpan timeout, DataCacheTag[] tags, String region, IMonitoringListener listener)\r\n at Microsoft.ApplicationServer.Caching.DataCache.<>c__DisplayClass31.<Put>b__30()\r\n at Microsoft.ApplicationServer.Caching.MonitoringListenerFactory.EmptyListener.Microsoft.ApplicationServer.Caching.IMonitoringListener.Listen[TResult](Func`1 innerDelegate)\r\n at Microsoft.ApplicationServer.Caching.DataCache.Put(String key, Object value, TimeSpan timeout, String region)\r\n at Caching.CacheProvider.Put(String key, Object data, TimeSpan timeSpan, String region) in c:\\Projects\\TestOfCache\\Caching\\Class1.cs:line 51\r\n at Caching.Caching.PutUserCache(String sessionID, String key, Object value) in c:\\Projects\\TestOfCache\\Caching\\CacheManager.cs:line 72\r\n at TestOfCache.Controllers.CacheController.Get() in c:\\Projects\\TestOfCache\\TestOfCache\\Controllers\\CacheController.cs:line 15\r\n at lambda_method(Closure , Object , Object[] )\r\n at System.Web.Http.Controllers.ReflectedHttpActionDescriptor.ActionExecutor.<>c__DisplayClass13.<GetExecutor>b__c(Object instance, Object[] methodParameters)\r\n at System.Web.Http.Controllers.ReflectedHttpActionDescriptor.ActionExecutor.Execute(Object instance, Object[] arguments)\r\n at System.Web.Http.Controllers.ReflectedHttpActionDescriptor.<>c__DisplayClass5.<ExecuteAsync>b__4()\r\n at System.Threading.Tasks.TaskHelpers.RunSynchronously[TResult](Func`1 func, CancellationToken cancellationToken)"}

    We have spent a lot of time researching into the issue without any success. We have tried the following on a fresh install of Windows 8 plus Visual Studio 2012 and Azure SDK 1.8:

    • Disabled UAC with registry hack.
    • Disabled Anti Virus.
    • Disabled Firewall.

    This issue is a major problem and is crippling our development. Any help is much appreciated.
