What is a brokered object?

Answers

  • A brokered object is a Windows Runtime object which instead of running directly in your process is "brokered" by the RuntimeBroker process. This allows the RuntimeBroker process to access functionality which your process cannot directly access. It is used to implement functionality which is enabled via capabilities, etc.

Martin Lovell discusses this in his //build/ session Lap around the Windows Runtime .
