Is a multi-table query possible in LightSwitch 2013 HTML client? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Once a user has selected doctor's ID ("provider_ud") I want to retrieve their NPI. In TSQL this would look something like this:

    LEFT(pim.provider_id_map_ud,10) AS [NPI]
    dbo.provider_id_map AS pim
    INNER JOIN dbo.provider AS p
    ON pim.provider_id = p.provider_id
    INNER JOIN dbo.provider_id_map_category AS pimc
    ON pim.provider_id_map_category_id = pimc.provider_id_map_category_id
    pimc.provider_id_map_category_ud = 'NPI'
    AND p.provider_ud = @provider_ud

    So where would I find the "OnChanged" event for the doctor's ID? And why can't I seem to do any kind of linq statements in the "beforeApplyingChanges" events et al?

  • If you have always wanted to have a rich multi-select experience in LightSwitch HTML Client Lists, this article may be of interest to you. This sample will show a nice pattern for adding unbound screen content items to be manipulated by the user in a List Control for a multi-select operation.

  • Thanks. However, I don't see how this is related to the issue at hand. Am I missing something?

    My understanding is that *all* querying within LS is actually just filtering on individual tables and can natively only act on one database per view.

    I'm led to believe that I can bypass this with WCF RIA but have not yet been successful implementing it.

    I'm finding all this to be extremely cumbersome and limiting.
