Error accessing WCF library service in my C# project. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Experts,

I have made a WCF library project and want to use it in another C# project as service reference. but it is giving me error.

There was an error downloading 'http://localhost:8733/Design_Time_Addresses/FPRVSWS/Service1/mex/$metadata'.
Unable to connect to the remote server
No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:8733
Metadata contains a reference that cannot be resolved: 'http://localhost:8733/Design_Time_Addresses/FPRVSWS/Service1/mex'.
There was no endpoint listening at http://localhost:8733/Design_Time_Addresses/FPRVSWS/Service1/mex that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details.

If the service is defined in the current solution, try building the solution and adding the service reference again.

  • Hi Athar3432003,

Make sure that you have opened port 8733 on the firewall, the error illustrates that the services are not hosted properly. When the target service is not running and we try to ping this service using TCP, the target machine refues the connection. So you need to check the service is hosted properly, if it is hosted properly, then you can enable WCF tracing and message logging to get the actual error details.

    #Enable WCF tracing.
