question on usage terms RRS feed

  • Question

  • I plan to usevs community 2015 to develop an unreal 4 game, and the terms confuse me a bit.
my team is made up of five people currently, and only two of us (possibly 3) will be coding. will I still be able to sell a commercial product using vs community?

  • Hi a dragon,

    As they mentioned here:

    "For organizations:

An unlimited number of users within an organization can use Visual Studio Community for the following scenarios: in a classroom learning environment, for academic research, or for contributing to open source projects.

    For all other usage scenarios:
In non-enterprise organizations, up to five users can use Visual Studio Community. In enterprise organizations (meaning those with >250 PCs or >$1 Million US Dollars in annual revenue), no use is permitted beyond the open source, academic research, and classroom learning environment scenarios described above."

In your case in my opinion you are good to go as long as you stay in those non enterprise sizes... Also I strongly recommend you to take a look at detailed LICENSE TERMS: https://www.visualstudio.com/support/legal/mt171547

Hope this was helpful for you...

    Best regards!

  • since we would be developing this for commercial sale, (and my team is 5/fewer) do you have a recommendation as to which visual studio package I should license?
