Strategy for where to store catalog product images? RRS feed

    I don't want to store them in the same web site as my .NET code as it just adds bulk to the code not to mention when I do automatic builds we clean up the existing web site folder and deploy all new files.  Having product image in the same site as my code is not feasable.

    So should I just have another web site dedicated to product images?  What pitfalls are there with this approach besides user permissions (intranet only site).

    What other approaches are there?

    You can create a VirtualDirectory in your site and store the files at the location pointed to by the VD which will be a folder outside your site folder.  As this folder is not physically in your site it isn't affected by your deployment, but as it is a VD it can be accessed via your sites url;
