add a new remote place to Bing Maps? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello there!

I've been to several remote National Parks around the globe, particularly in South America, and most of them do not appear in Bing Maps.

I would like to add those places, and some of their magnificent landscapes to Bing Maps in order to make them available in Facebook at least for me, my family and friends; if I see the map of the area, I can tell where they are located precisely.

Those locations do not have any technology in hundred of miles around, not even cell phone access or WiFi.

So, how could I add those places? If you point me to a FAQ or a Guide I'll be very pleased.

    Thanks in advance,

    "The Immortal" :-)

  • Facebook has their own geocoder which they use with Bing Maps rather than using the Bing Maps geocoder (don't ask me why). Their geocoder is missing a lot of locations and tends to be less accurate than the Bing Maps geocoder. It is possible that the locations you want to add are already in Bing Maps or will be soon. The best way to check is to look at the NAVTEQ Map Reporter tool (https://mapreporter.navteq.com/). NAVTEQ is the primary data provider for Bing Maps. If the data is there it will be in Bing Maps in a future update if it isn't already there. Also, the map reporter tool can be used to provide updates to the maps.
