OutOfMemory Error RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have 10 relatively short queries running on PowerPivot in Excel on a dataset held in the same Excel Workbook.  The main dataset is only 595 lines long and 10 fields deep.  There are 5 other small lookup tables.

    On running the main query I get the following message:

    Run-time error '-2147467259 (80004005)
    Unexpected Error: \r \b \r \nMessage: \r\n Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown \r \n \r \r \nDetails: \r \nSystem.OutOfMemoryException: Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown. at System.Guid.ToByteArray() at Microsoft.Mashup.Host.Document.Storage.Metadata.MetadataValue.S

    The error message probably continues but runs off the dialog box.

    Pressing any button on the dialog box either brings up the same message again or crashes Excel.

    There are few other programs running at the same time, the computer is running windows 7,  has 4Gb of memory (3.18 GB usable) and is only shown as using 65% of memory at the time.  I can't believe that this is really an out of memory error, but how do I trace what is causing it?
