  • When running Show-WindowsDeveloperLicenseRegistration, I receive the following

    Show-WindowsDeveloperLicenseRegistration : Forbidden (403). (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80190193)

    The error message box is as follows:

    [Window Title]
    Developer License

    [Main Instruction]
    We couldn't get your developer license for Windows 8.1

    Error 0x80190193: Forbidden (403).

    [Retry] [Close]

  • I don't know if this helps, but I found that to run Show-WindowsDeveloperLicenseRegistration on Win8.1 tablet, it was not sufficient to be running PowerShell in an administrator account.  I had to select the PowerShell tile in Start Screen, and choose "run as administrator" on the app bar as well.  Then when I typed Show-WindowsDeveloperLicenseRegistration at the PowerShell prompt, everything went smoothly.
