Setting Owner Information programatically RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    I need to set the Owner Information on a WM6.1 device programatically.

    I can do this by setting the appropriate vulues in the Owner key in the regsitry, but the new information is not reflected on the Windows Today screen  ( It is if I open up the Owner Information page ).

    Is there a setting or event that will cause the Toiday screen to refresh ? so that the new info that I have placed in rhe Owner Information keys will be shown on the Toiday screen.

    Thanks In advance,

  • Hi Mart,

    As far as I know, you may restart your device after you changed the value of Today plug-in in registry. So that the information will be updated.

    As far as I know we can set the own information using control panel. In this way we need the customer to put the name manually. We call ctlpnl.exe to lunch the control panel like this:

                ProcessStartInfo startInfo = new ProcessStartInfo();

                startInfo.FileName = "ctlpnl.exe";

                startInfo.Arguments = "cplmain.cpl,2,0";

    If customer put the name and click OK the owner information will updated immediately.

    I hope my suggestions can help you to solve this problem.
