It would be worth your while looking at http://npoi.codeplex.com/ - this project provides access to word, excel and power-point files. Its approach may give you another way of accessing the MS Project files.

For further help on MSProject ask at http://forums.techarena.in/microsoft-project/

You should note that Microsoft do not recommend running MS Office in unattended mode on a server.

Does the version of MS Project that you using, use an XML format? If so a simple serial read/update is possible.

An XML  file can be read and manipulated as required.

It is worthwhile looking at the file with and without the additional information with an editor like XML notepad.

    So?

You need to locate the nodes to update. Look for an XML difference tool to compare base and updated versions of the project file.

There is a difference tool at http://tools.decisionsoft.com/xmldiff.html

Questions regarding the MS Project Object Model are best asked at http://forums.techarena.in/microsoft-project/

Please note my comment "You should note that Microsoft do not recommend running MS Office in unattended mode on a server."

Having got Word to work with an ASP.NET web site, I also do not recommend running MS Office in unattended mode on a server. You will need to:

    • Use the Com+ Explorer to set permissions object by object
    • Trap errors and provide a warning to yourself they occur so that you can log in interactively to server to clear them.
