Windows Service not starting on power up RRS feed

  • Yea but not really something for this forum. If it starts sometimes than the reason can be the user who starts it. Starting up a windows service relies very much on the user.

However, try the TechNet Forums for that.

  • Hi krishkhan,

    Thank you for posting here.

According to your question is more related to WCF, I will move it to Windows Communication Foundation, Serialization, and Networking forum for suitable support.

The CLR Forum discuss and ask questions about .NET Framework Base Classes (BCL) such as Collections, I/O, Regigistry, Globalization, Reflection. Also discuss all the other Microsoft libraries that are built on or extend the .NET Framework, including Managed Extensibility Framework (MEF), Charting Controls, CardSpace, Windows Identity Foundation (WIF), Point of Sale (POS), Transactions.

    Best Regards,

    Wendy

  • Maybe, the service is blowing up and you don't know it. Maybe, you should do some event logging to show program execution on the OnStart() and try a try/catch and log possible exception.

  • Hi krishkhan,

    >> WCF service hosted as windows service and configured to start on system power up do not start sometimes.

What do you mean not start on power up?

For Windows Service Startup types, there are only Automatic, Automatic(Delayed Start), Manual and Disabled.

To check whether it is related with WCF Service, I suggest you comment out the Service related code to check whether the windows service will start.

    Best Regards,

    Tao Zhou
