Background Transfer From Background Task RRS feed

  • Question

  • Aim:
Upload files periodically using timer based background task.

    • Is it possible to upload files using background transfer, from background task?
    • Documentation says "When a UWP app using Background Transfer is terminated, incomplete uploads will persist in the background."
But in case of background task mostly app will be in terminated state. So will Background Transfer Upload work from Background Task.
    • Also Backgound Task is allocated 25 seconds wall clock usage by OS.

  • Hi,

Yes, background transfer could be called in the background task. You could refer the official sample BackgroundTransfer. In the sample you could see that there is a background task which will trigger to call the background downloader. And it is the same for background uploader.

You can treat background transfers as a separate background process. So generally, background transfer won't be stop unless you pause it manually.

    Best regards,
