WIndows service client application will fetch emails from MS Exchange Server 2007 by POP3 protocol RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

My windows service application currently can read Emails from MS Exchange Server 2007 only using POP3 protocol when, it has been set Authentication mode is in Plain Text in MS Exchange Server, but for better security reason, if it is TLS authentication mode (NTLM), my application fails to connect, even when MS Outlook cannot read emails, when SPA check box is unchecked in Outlook.

As .net programming languages (C#) in .net framework 3.5, does not provide any component or assembly to configure authentication like SPA, NTLM etc.

If anyone knows, how do I connect to MS Exchange Server using pop3 and providing SPA authentication programmatically, then MS Exchange server will allow access to read emails. I have tested email account password with encryption using MD5, but still failed to read emails from MS Exchange server.

    Regards to all.

  • I was thinking to buy a third party component, that will support this, but again how the third party component will work in this scenario, and then why I will not be able to fix it using .net 3.5 framework and other available tools in MS technology?
