Events are not deleted from EventHub RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    I'm using an Event Hub.

I've set the Message Retention to 1 day, however I still have events from more than a week ago.

How do I delete old events from my event hub?

    Thanks,

    Janiv,

  • Event Hubs' message retention policy is about retaining the messages for the given period, it doesn't guarantee a time for message cleanup. Cleanup may or may not kick in depending on some internal dynamics.

  • Hi Janiv,

Base on my experience, Events will be deleted after retention period which is by default 1 day and this can be configured up to 7 days. It seems that user cannot delete the event data until the data is expired.

  • Thanks Will,

My eventhub messages are not being deleted.

When I run Service Bus Explorer, it now reads messages from January 30.

    Thanks,

  • Please see my answer above - not enough data has been written to the Event Hub. It ages in rather large blocks - NOT a per event basis.
