  • I have downloaded the Windows Server 2008 ISO image:  en_windows_server_2008_r2_standard_enterprise_datacenter_and_web_checked_build_x64_dvd_408075.iso.

I have downloaded and installed the following AIK:  6001.18000.080118-1840-kb3aikl_en.iso.

When I try to create a catalog I get the following error:

    10:48 AM :
10:48 AM : Windows System Image Manager execution failed.
    10:48 AM :
    10:48 AM : System.Reflection.TargetParameterCountException: Parameter count mismatch.

Now I tried to do this on my new windows 2008R2 server, no luck.  Then I tried to just see if I could create it off of my XP machine, still no luck.  I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.  Any help would be appreciated!

  • Hi,

This issue usually can occur if we generate a catalog for a x86 wim file on x64 WSIM.

Because of the changes in the servicing stack in Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 (SP1) and Windows Server 2008, Windows System Image Manager (Windows SIM) cannot create catalog files for some Windows images of different architecture types. The following list describes the Image Manager architecture types and catalogs that can be created for each one.

    x86 Windows SIM:

Can create catalogs for x86, x64, and Itanium-based Windows images.

    x64 Windows SIM:

Can create catalogs only for x64 Windows images.

    Itanium-based Windows SIM:

Can create catalogs only for Itanium-based Windows images.

Are you running Windows Server 2008 64bit? If so, please confirm if you are generating a catalog for a 32bit wim file.

I suggest trying other 64bit wim files to test the issue.

You can also install a 32bit operating system and then try to generate the catalog.

details can be found at the below link

    Hope this helps :)
