  • Hi Omer_a,

Because the procedure requires a dump and restore, there is no Azure CLI or PowerShell cmdlet to accomplish this. Please take a look that the following blog, which describes the procedure: How to Scale up Azure Database for MySQL from Basic Tier to General Purpose Tier (link).

Please let us know if you have additional questions.

  • You can use the following Azure CLI command

az mysql server update -g testgroup -n testsvrnew --sku-name GP_Gen5_4

Update using the "--sku_name" command. For example if you wanted to go from General Purpose 2 vCores to 4 vCores, you would pass in "--sku_name GP_Gen5_4".

    ref: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/cli/azure/mysql/server?view=azure-cli-latest#az-mysql-server-update

At this time, we do not support scaling pricing tiers from Basic tier to or from the General Purpose & Memory Optimized pricing tiers. To do this type of scaling, you would need to perform a dump and restore.

The "az mysql server configuration set" commands are used for setting server parameters.
