Edit Form (for a SharePoint List) InfoPath RRS feed

  • Question

  • How can I set one form created in InfoPath to be used when someone edits an item in an issues list? And then use another form for when users add new items to the list? Still having both of them work together? and publishing these new forms with InfoPath?

  • Hi,

I understand that you want to use different forms for SharePoint list New Form and Edit Form. Here are the detailed steps:

      • After customize the list form in InfoPath designer. The aspx pages will be replaced with InfoPath forms.
      • Open the List in SharePoint designer. Choose the NewForm.aspx page and set it as the default form.
      • Then click on the Item content type to edit it.
      • In the forms section, you can see the New Form, Display form and Edit form are all set to the InfoPath forms .The URLs are like this : ~list/Item/displayifs.aspx.
      • In the New Form URL, change the URL to :/Lists/listname/NewForm.aspx. You need to change listname in the URL to your list name. Then save the changes.
      • In this way when you add a new item to the list, it will use the default NewForm.aspx page. When you edit and display the item properties, it uses the InfoPath forms.
