Changing pricing tier RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is it possible to start with a basic single SQL database and when I need more than 2GB of storage to change to the standard tier?

I mean can this be achieved automatically without migrating the data manually?

    Thanks a lot

  • Yes Roman.. This can be done either through azure portal or using SSMS 2016.

All you need to do is go to the db property and select the pricing tier.

Just make a note this will close all the connections forcefully and change the pricing tier so the application may have few mins down time till the change happens. I bet usually it will be done within couple of minutes
