Need clarification on Kinect Studio RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

Does Kinect Studio can only record Depth and Color data and plays back?.

Can't that be used to record and recognition of gestures?

The documentation describes only recording of Depth & Color Video. What if I want to record (save to a file) and recognize my Gestures performed. Is this possible with Kinect Studio?

Please let me know if I am missing anything here.

    Thanks,

    Bharat.

  • Hi Bharat,

Kinect Studio and SDK 1.5 do not have software for gesture recognition. Check out my product, GesturePak (http://www.gesturepak.com). It lets you record gestures as a series of poses, saves those gestures as XML files, and then lets you know when your user has made one or more of them.

  • If it saves depth and rgb data for a period of time then yes according to my idea you could. I will be working here soon on code for my kinect sign language project which will involve comparing a bunch of prerecorded xed files from kinect studio with the current xed file made by comparing file conents but I will most likely do file permissions to prevent tampering of prerecorded gestures.

ykbharat if you figure out what api the kinect studio uses or how they save data to xed file tell me and I will share my kinect sign language code after I start on it to help you with your gesture recogition project.

  • As far as skeleton gestures no. But gestures using rgb and depth data yes but it would be a file comparision task ordata comparsion task.
