VS2013 Tests do not appear in Test Explorer RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have newly installed VS2013 on W7 and created some simple unit tests

These were discovered and ran fine the first time.   Then a while later the list
of tests had disappeared and nothing happened when trying to run tests.

After searching for an answer I eventually repaired the installation.

The tests the work fine the first time and have now disappeared again.

How do I fix this ?

I have got it working. I had VS2010 installed on the same machine.  It has been working since I uninstalled it.

  • Hi,

Do you mean that those tests appeared the first time but they disappeared when you run them again?

If yes, please restart your PC, run VS as admin, create a few simple and new unit tests, open Test Explorer windows(and please make sure this window is docked), build the project, whether those unit test will appear? If yes, then you can check whether they will disappear after a while. If they also will disappear after a while, I am afraid that there is anything wrong with your VS2013 or some other software(Anti-virus etc).

Please create a new user account and run unit tests in VS2013. If you can work without problem, your user profile is corrupt.

Try some devenv commands to fix(Notice that I'm not sure if these commands works on 2005 http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms241272(v=vs.80).aspx But you can give it a try):

    1.devenv.exe  /safemode

    2.devenv.exe  /resetskippkgs

    3.devenv.exe  /installvstemplates

    4.devenv.exe  /resetsettings

    5.devenv.exe  /resetuserdata

devenv.exe can be located under your VS location/Common7/IDE

What your need is to put it to run prompt and add commands to it.

If no help, please use http://aka.ms/vscollect  to gather the installation logs. After using it, you will find vslogs.cab from %temp% folder. Please upload the file to https://skydrive.live.com/   and share the link here.

    Best regards,
