finding local minima in depth data RRS feed

  • Question

  • I wrote an earlier thread ( about not having precise hand recognition when hands are in front of you.

Since my application needs only to recognize hands, and preferably, while sitting down, I have thought about writing an app that senses a hand by taking the local minimum of the depth data. The range of participants' movement will be very limited: sitting at a table, hands going up and down in front of them, starting from the tabletop to above their head. If I took one local minima on each side of the depth data (for both hands), I can see how this idea could work out.

Does anyone have experience with depth data or resources that they can share with me? Particularly, how can I access the depth data via Beta 2?
