New Resource - Save windows account without check the Resource can logon to Project Server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All

I´m using Project Server 2010, and many resources of the Resource Pool are not able to logon into PWA (the <Resource can logon to Project> field is NOT checked), as you know when you check the <Resource can logon to Project> field then the <User logon account> field is available to save the windows account, well, my question is about how to save the windows account for all the resources even the ones that cannot logon on to PWA...?

Also my second question is about what would be the best way to create a field for the resource manager, or how to create a relationship between 2 resources, what information I need to save... for example, currently, I have a custom Text field to save the name of the manager like "Javier Perez", and this name should exist on the resource pool using the <Display Name> field, also I was thinking to save the windows account instead of the name, Do you know what would be the best way to create this relationship?

    Thanks for your comments.

  • Hi Javier,

The ability to log in is the difference between a user and a resource - so not sure why you need a logon account for a resource when they will not be logging in.  One option would be to create them as users but set a category for them with no permisisons to log in - but not sure what your end goal is.

For the second question there isn't the out of the box ability to use a field type that would recognize another user/resource.  You could do this via event handlers to validate such a relationship but not very easy.  I've often thought that would be a nice feature to add.

    Best regards,
