Some gadgets behave strangely or crash RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I know the online Live Gallery has been discontinued but I hope Windows 8 itself will ship with the gadget platform for backward compatibility as the Windows Developer Preview already does. I am using some Calculator and Volume control gadgets and these either make the gadgets process (Sidebar.exe) stop responding or they behave strangely like the volume display doesn't update properly when it is changed or the calculator gadget doesn't show its values properly. These gadgets work perfectly on Windows 7. I understand this being only a Developer Preview, there may be some bugs but I hope Microsoft fixes any bugs in the Gadget platform before Windows 8 is eventually released. At present, definitely compatibility is broken in Windows 8 for some Windows 7/Vista gadgets.
