  • i have multiple .net frameworks installed. do i need to have them all or can i uninstall all of them but the most current one. or if i unistall them all will it effect the way my pc runs?

  • Are you a developer? If not, you only need frameworks to support installed software that need them. For example, if you installed .NET 4.0 yourself (rather than having it installed as part of an application installation), you probably don't need it.

    Another thing to keep in mind: .NET 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 are all parts of *one* framework. 3.0 and 3.5 are extensions of 2.0, not standalone frameworks. That means that you cannot have 3.5 without 2.0 and 3.0.

    If you start uninstalling frameworks, your PC can be affected if you have programs installed that need that particular framework. The dependent application will simply not run.

    If you're trying to recover disc space, there are safer ways to identify and remove unneeded files. Ask in a forum for your version of Windows:
