  • This is a question about windows virtual server:

I  am using windows XP as the host, and I have installed windows 2003 server as a guest OS.

The xp host is in a domain on my company LAN.

I want my XP host to be in a virtual network with my windows 2003 server. I also want the guest server to be not available on my company LAN.  Is that the default of installing Virtual server, or do I need to configure.  I tried created a share on the server, but I could not access it from the XP host.

    Thanks in advance..Ed

  • So you want the virtual server machine to only be able to communicate with the host system?

I know that's easy to do with hyper-v  but I've not used virtual server enough to tell you how to set it up that way.

You might try asking over on the technet forums

As of 8/22/2008 this forum is de-comissioned, and there's pretty much nobody minding this particular MSDN forum..  all the virtualization support is over in the technet form

    http://forums.technet.microsoft.com/en-US/winserverhyperv/threads/

(note the pinned message at the top of the forum that they are de-commissioning these on the 22nd  )

Further discussion of this issue should be moved to the technet virtulization forum.
