Windows 8.1 TDRLevel RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm unsure if this is the best place to ask but it seems appropriate.

I'm working with a GPU vendor to debug an issue with their driver in certain configurations, the issue is causing Windows TDR to frequently reset the display driver.

We are trying to capture a kernel memory dump at the time of the issue, so they have suggested using the TdrLevel keys noted here to set the TdrLevel to 1, in order to bugcheck the OS

    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff569918%28v=vs.85%29.aspx

The vendor has tried this and managed to get the OS to bugcheck once, unfortunately the dump file wasnt written - since then they have been unable to get the OS to bugcheck when the TDR event occurs. We have set up the same test and have found the same thing - with TdrLevel set to 1, the driver is recovered by a reset (which is TdrLevel 3) rather than by bugchecking the OS.

So - Windows 8.1 not consistently obeying TdrLevel keys - any ideas?
