BizTalk 2010 EDI support of required HIPAA 5010 999 transaction RRS feed

  • Question

  • Because of the HIPAA 5010 law, all Health EDI transactions sent to an organization must be responded to by replying with a corresponding 999 transaction (not a 997).  I am surprised to see that BizTalk 2010 does not have 999 transaction support out of the box.  I would like to know if Microsoft will be producing a patch to address this (soon as 5010 must be implemented by 1/1/2012).  I understand that there are ways to implement this manually (http://blog.tsathish.com/?tag=999).  However,  the 999 is very similar to the 997 transaction that BizTalk does support (out of the box) and should really be in the BizTalk product (so every health care company using BizTalk will not have to implement it).
