Subscription-based web site question RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there a way using Expression to integrate a subscription-accessible section of a web site?

In more detail, I would like to create a secure portion of my web site that is only accessible to users that log in...and they can only log in if they have an active subscription that is paid for.

Probably this is best asked as, "What is the easiest-to-use program that would allow me to restrict viewers to those who pay for a subscription."  I can make the web site using Expression, and can store the "limited access" files in a single folder. But I don't know how to get access restricted to just those that pay an annual subscription to read the articles.

  • Hello, this forum is for expression Design, the graphic software. Your question should be related to Expression Web, and you can post it there: http://social.expression.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/web/threads

BTW, forms authentication should be the solution to your question  http://www.asp.net/security/tutorials/an-overview-of-forms-authentication-vb

  • Yes, this forum is for design related questions.

You need to go to the asp.net forums and look for authentication and roles. You may need to use Visual Web Developer Express instead of EW.

VWD creates a web site that already has a section for authentication so you only need to modify some settings and you are good to go. It uses a mix of asp.net controls and html. You can go back to EW for fine tuning the css and run reports like the SEO which I find more thorough in EW
