slash is missing RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have configured my hyper link(ex:S:\Postgres04012015.xlsx). and when I try to click on the same hyperlink in rdlc report, it says that s:Postgres04012015.xlsx not found. Not sure why the "\" is missing.

  • Try putting two backslashes together or put an @ in front of the string.  the backslash indicates the character that follows is a control character.

    string myString = "S:\\Postgres04012015.xlsx";

    or

    string myString = @"S:\Postgres04012015.xlsx";

  • Thank you Joel!

    but in my case, users will configure the links and they just want to copy paste the file path and not willing  to do any modifications(ex: making it S:\\Postgres04012015.xlsx or adding @ infront of file name). Is there any way that I can make changes in my rdlc report(since users try to browse the file through rdlc report using hyperlink)

  • I can't tell from the info you posted how the users are entering the string.  When you don't have the '\' at the beginning of the file path it expects the file to be in the current active folder.  When you include the backslash it searches for the file in the root folder.  Both syntax are valid.

  • Users enter just the path of the file from shared locations.

    Ex: s:/Postgres04012015.xlsx and the same hyperlink will be used in rdlc reports
