Local database for windows phone 8

    Question

  • Hi!

I am total new in WP8 development and I am building an WP8 app that needs to store data in local database.

I saw that there are two ways to build it: simple local DB or using MV-VM.

when do I use each of them? (more specific: when will I use the MV-VM?)

    thanks in advance.

  • When you look at technology you basically can choose to use SQL Server CE or SQLite. Looking at future proffing SQLite will likely be the way to go.

MVVM doesn't really have anything to do with data storage. MVVM is a design pattern similar to MVC and deals with how the data is being represented/edited by the UI. But as far as the Model is concerned (and that's where you decide which database technology to use it doesn't really make a difference).

  • There are also some object databases you can use siaqodb and lex.db
