Installing ACE 2016 Driver along side ACE 2010 driver on the same machine

Question
-
Hi, I have an existing application that depends on ACE 2010 driver installation.
I would like to make this application run with the latest ACE 2016 driver instead.
However, as most applications out there are still dependent on the legacy ACE 2010 driver, there is a high chance that ACE 2010 driver is already installed on a machine.
Is it recommended for me to install ACE 2016 driver along side ACE 2010 driver?
If not, what are the possible issues that I will encounter for doing so?
Thanks in advance!

Hi. I'm probably the wrong person to answer this question but I was just wondering why this is in an Access forum when you seem to be talking about possibly a .Net application (or something else other than Access). In any case, I am also wondering what does the ACE 2010 driver have that the ACE 2016 driver doesn't have? In most cases, the newer versions should be able to execute/run applications built from older version. Normally, two different versions of the same driver on one computer is either not allowed or not recommended. I can't say for sure in this case, since I haven't tried it. Good luck!Saturday, April 20, 2019 3:13 PM

Thanks very highlighting this. I have reposted my question in the Visual C# forum.
To answer this question: "In any case, I am also wondering what does the ACE 2010 driver have that the ACE 2016 driver doesn't have?"
I have an application that is running fine. After I uninstall ACE 2010 driver and install ACE 2016 driver, my application starts to hang and crash on start up.

Hi
Thank you for posting here.
Since this thread is duplicate with the following link, I will merge it.
The Visual C# forum discusses and asks questions about the C# programming language, IDE, libraries, samples, and tools.
