Copying one catalog item from one BSP to another BSP. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Does anybody know how to copy a catalog item with source code from one BSP to add to another BSP catalog? I think this is possible and how would I do it?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Are you specifically asking how to copy something from the catalog, as opposed to copying the files that are built?

    If so, use a text editor and cut and paste - but be sure the change the name of the item in the catalog so that it is unique.

      <Item Id="Driver:MyBSP:MyDriver">
        <Title>My BSPs driver</Title>
        <Type>BspSpecific</Type>
        <Variable>BSP_MYDRIVER</Variable>
        <Module>MyDriver.dll</Module>
        <Location>Device Drivers\MyDriver</Location>
      </Item>

    becomes:

      <Item Id="Driver:MyNEWBSP:MyDriver">
        <Title>My BSPs driver</Title>
        <Type>BspSpecific</Type>
        <Variable>BSP_MYDRIVER</Variable>
        <Module>MyDriver.dll</Module>
        <Location>Device Drivers\MyDriver</Location>
      </Item>

  • Bruce,

    I Just want to copy the built solution in the BSP to the new BSP I want to add it to.

    Also, what are the differences for a catalog item for Win CE 6 to a catalog item in Win Embedded Compact 7?

  • What is a "built solution"?  If you want us to tell you how to do something, then you need to be clear about what it is that you want to do.  I have already guessed wrong once.

    I will leave it to you to take a look at the catalog files between the two versions.  I could do it and tell you what I see, but wouldn't it be a better learning experience if you do it yourself?

  • Bruce,

    I will try it and get back with you and look at the different version BSP's.

    I just am wanting to use the same bluetooth module driver on the other BSP that does not have it.

    Regards.
