CDN returning 404 error RRS feed

  • Question

  • I created a storage account and CDN several hours ago. I setup one container called cdn, it's set as a public blob.

    The origin domain returns content ok, for example: http://situationaljapanese.blob.core.windows.net/cdn/wp-content/themes/Fable/style.css.gzip

    However, the CDN endpoint to the same file returns 404: http://az663048.vo.msecnd.net/cdn/wp-content/themes/Fable/style.css.gzip

    I have setup custom DNS addresses for the CDN endpoint as well. Each return the same 404 error.

    cdn1.situationaljapanese.com/cdn/wp-content/themes/Fable/style.css.gzip
    cdn2.situationaljapanese.com/cdn/wp-content/themes/Fable/style.css.gzip
    cdn3.situationaljapanese.com/cdn/wp-content/themes/Fable/style.css.gzip
    cdn4.situationaljapanese.com/cdn/wp-content/themes/Fable/style.css.gzip
    cdn5.situationaljapanese.com/cdn/wp-content/themes/Fable/style.css.gzip

    If I attempt to hit the default CDN endpoint directly, at http://az663048.vo.msecnd.net/, I get the following error:

    <Error>
    <Code>InvalidQueryParameterValue</Code>
    <Message>
    Value for one of the query parameters specified in the request URI is invalid. RequestId:***** Time:2014-09-09T07:02:28.9764660Z
    </Message>
    <QueryParameterName>comp</QueryParameterName>
    <QueryParameterValue/>
    <Reason/>
    </Error>

    Which looks like it's a message from the storage account that the query needs a parameter, which I would expect since none is provided using the root url only.

    How can I resolve this 404 error?

  • Hi,

    cdn1.situationaljapanese.com/cdn/wp-content/themes/Fable/style.css.gzip
    cdn2.situationaljapanese.com/cdn/wp-content/themes/Fable/style.css.gzip
    cdn3.situationaljapanese.com/cdn/wp-content/themes/Fable/style.css.gzip
    cdn4.situationaljapanese.com/cdn/wp-content/themes/Fable/style.css.gzip
    cdn5.situationaljapanese.com/cdn/wp-content/themes/Fable/style.css.gzip

    http://az663048.vo.msecnd.net/cdn/wp-content/themes/Fable/style.css.gzip

    Above CDN endpoints work fine on my side, I suggest you try again after clear sessions and cookies, please note, the configuration created for the endpoint will not immediately be available, it can take up to 60 minutes for the registration to propagate through the CDN network.

    Best Regards,

    Jambor

  • Yup, looks like it was just a matter of waiting. Perhaps some sort of message to users who create storage/CDN endpoints would help. I had no idea it wasn't instant. I thought of the CDN endpoints as merely pass-through to the storage containers.

    Thanks!

  • Yes, a meaningful message would be great for a good experience , rather than needing to google InvalidQueryParameterValue & ending up at this page
