How to profile slow-running unit tests? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've got some C# .net unit tests that take a very long time to run in Visual Studio 2012. I'd like to run a profiler session on them but can't figure out how to do it. I really need a step-by-step since I've tried a bunch of things but haven't made any progress.

  • With the RTM version this is a bit cumbersome, as it requires using vstest.console.exe to run the test. In the upcomgin Quarterly Update 1 (download ctp here), you can do it by selecting "Profile Test" from the context menu in Test Explorer.
