blinky webserver example on Azure RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have been playing with the blink webserver example as is detailed here.

After a few tries I was successful in getting the RPi (Raspberry Pi) displayed LED to turn on or off with the web page.

Now, I would like to move the webserver app from this sample to Azure, and keep the blinky client running on my RPi.

I am thinking that the webserver app is a universal windows app and that it shouldn't matter that much where it lives.

However I am not at all familiar with non deploying an app to Azure. I do have a VM running on Azure.

What do I need to do to get it on there?

    TIA

  • Robert,

The Blinky WebServer app needs to have the Web App, and the Background Task both running on the Pi.   This is because it uses an app-to-app communication mechanism that requires both apps be on the same device (The Pi in this case). You could re-architect the app to use a different communication mechanism. Some options might be:

    • Azure IoT Hubs - IoT Hubs give you a bi-directional communication mechanism for your devices.
    • Signal R - Gives you a robust web based communication mechanism
    • Many others, but those two are good starting points
