net.tcp iis hosted wcf service not working at windows 10 RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I have a net.tcp hosted wcf service that i use for my windows application callback functions, it works fine in my development machine using windows 8, but after i upgrade to windows 10, i can't connect the service from my client anymore.

I have the following screenshots as proof.

for the same service, and from the same client, if i host it on iis of a server machine, running windows 8 or 7 or windows server versions, it works as shown in the picture below, you will notice the host name changed.

I'm sure all my PC's ports are open, and even my firewall is off, and i don't have any security software running in my pc,

is this a known windows 10 issue? is there a fix?

  • turns out that you have to turn on NetTcpActivator and NetTcpPortSharing service in the services.msc to solve that. Somehow in widows 10 these services are turned off by default
