Azure IOT Edge offline connectivity RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I have some questions related to extended offline capabilities for IoT Edge devices, modules, and child devices.

      • So, there would be a single IOT edge device on-premise. There can be a failure on that one parent node. Do we have any mechanism to setup redundancy for IOT edge devices to avoid single point of failure ?
      • The devices (both IOT edge and non-IOT edge) are first registered/configured in the Azure IOT Hub cloud. So, after that in extended offline connectivity, can we add more new child devices(which are not even registered in the Azure IOT Hub cloud), without the need of connecting to cloud ?

  • Also an IoT Edge device in a Kubernetes cluster can be used as a gateway for downstream devices this way you can have a failure resilient node. You can learn more here Check out https://aka.ms/iotedge-on-kubernetes/
