Visual studio kernel debuggin could not load kernel symbols RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

While using visual studio 2012 for kernel debugging, I am unable to download symbols from microsoft symbol server.

I set the symbol file paths correctly. Upon running .sympath command, below is the output that i got.

    symbol search path is: srv*;;;D:\17-09-2014\08-09-2014\Win7Debug\x86

Expanded Symbol search path is: SRV*c:\symbols*;;;d:\17-09-2014\08-09-2014\win7debug\x86

I am unable to execute any  command because of this issue. How to get the symbols loaded correctly?

  • I tried .symfix and .reload commands. THat didn't help.

Looks like this is a network issue. However i checked my firewall settings and found that visual studio is being allowed through firewall.

Where else can i look for the problem?

  • Type "!sym noisy" to enable verbose symbol logging. When you're done, type "!sym quiet" to disable the logging
