attach to process crashes msvsmon and microsoft.office.project.server.eventing.exe process RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello I've been getting this problem for the last little while. Trying to attach to the microsoft.office.project.server.eventing.exe (one or both processes) generates a crash from msvsmon.

Doing an onCreate project event handler as per the SDK.

Looking in the event viewer showes a few entries related to this.

    * The msvsmon error event plus a general information appcrash event with not much details and as well

    *   the eventing.exe application error event (one per process I attach to) plus one (per process) information event appcrash.

hard to debug if I can't walk through my code!

At this point VS2010 shows only my personal processes even though I have the two checkboxes to show all processes from other users and session. I have to restart VS2010, reload project and I can see the eventing.exe process again.

Any help is appreciated thank you

Answers

  • Ok think I fixed this now. I reset the environment in Visual Studio 2010 Tools->import export settings and the attach to process now does not crash msvsmon/eventing.exe processes.

Not sure what/how was set but nothing like a good 'reboot'.

    cheers
