Default Field mappings and SCRUM when setting up Project Server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm trying to integrate a new installation of Project Server 2013 SP1 with a current instance of Team FoundationServer 2013 with Update 4.

I've read through this great write up here http://nakedalm.com/integrating-project-server-2013-with-team-foundation-server-2012/ and got to the part where I need to modify the Scrum task type definition - I seem to have done that successfully for all existing TFS projects (since you have to specify a project name to make the change to) but I still can't upload the default field mappings to the Team Project Collection (Same TF294026 message). I've tried creating a mappings file with the default mappings from here http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg412657.aspx and modifying it to remove the CompletedWork and originalEstimate fields just to be able to get something loaded as a mapping.

I then tried to link together a Project Server enterprise project with a TFS Team project, but get error TF294016: You do not currently have any fields mapped. You must first upload the field mapping file before you can map projects.

I'm now horribly confused. Can someone point out to me the sequence that I should use to get a new Project Server hooked up to a TFS instance that only has SCRUM projects such that I can map between them?

  • Hi Mark,

    Thanks for your post.

After you edited the Task work item types in your existing Scrum team projects, have you manually checked the Task work item types in all your team project to ensure all required fields be added in that Task work item types?

To get the default Mapping file, you should execute the TFSAdmin ProjectServer /DownloadFieldMappings command line to download the default mapping file from your current collection. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg412647.aspx.

In this current scenario, you should follow the steps in this article to resolve that TF294026, add the required fields and edit your Task work item type.
