Embed Silverlight video on my website RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey everybody,

    I have got a problem.... I want to embed a streaming silverlight video on my site. It should work as easily as a youtube embedded video but it doesn't! I downloaded the latest version of Silverlight and IE. If I want to preview the video in dreamweaver cs5 I get the following notification:

    "Unable to find the plugin that handle this media type. Dreamweaver looks in both the Configuration/Plugins folder, and the plugins folder of each of your browsers"

    If I want to preview the site in my browser (IE9 or Firefox3) it doesn't work neither. I get a blank page and if I click were the video should have been I can enter the Silverlight Configuration.

    PLEASE can anyone help me??? I would be very gratefull!

    This is the code i'm trying to embed:

    object data="data:application/x-silverlight-2," type="application/x-silverlight-2" width="424" height="256">
          <param name="source" value="http://embed.player.omroep.nl/sle/ugslplayer.xap"/>
          <param name="enablehtmlaccess" value="true"/>
          <param name="initParams" value="seriesID=854,width=530,height=306,volume=100,viewMode=video,playMode=pause,playlistEnabled=yes"/>
          <a href="http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=124807" style="text-decoration: none;"><img src="http://embed.player.omroep.nl/sle/downloadsilverlight.jpg" alt="Get Microsoft Silverlight" width="424" height="256" style="border-style: none"/></a><br />

  • Are you running the webpage with the SL app in a website? If you run it from disk it will block because of cross-domain issues. Try to host it in localhost and run it. If you need more details on a player and easy help how to set it up, have a look at the Silverlight Media Framework on Codeplex (http://smf.codeplex.com).

  • Hi Jnic111,

    Please make sure that you are visit your page in http mode but not in file mode.  You can see the browser and if the address start with file://, that means you are using file mode indeed.  Thanks.

    Best regards,
