Host OS / Container OS need help! RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to run microsoft/nanoserver on a Server 2016 1803 Host.

Host OS: Server 1803 Version: Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.17134.285]

    Container OS: microsoft/nanoserver:latest

    I get :

Error response from daemon: container a97831677551f45ab678d60704960a31afdedaa75d712de0993a7c671ce8f817 encountered an

error during reateContainer: failure in a Windows system call:

The operating system of the container does not match the operating system of the host.

What am i doing wrong here? I thought that Server 1803 should be able to run nanoserver as container with process isolation, and the Docs are saying the same.

    Thanks!

  • Container support matrix is below. You can not run containers in process isolation with different versions of kernel as expected

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/virtualization/windowscontainers/deploy-containers/version-compatibility

    use nanoserver:1803
