Trouble Installing Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio 4

Question
-
Hello,
I want to install Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio 4 but it ends up with the following Error Message: "The files for installation requirement Microsoft CCR and DSS Runtime could not be found. The installation will now stop. This is probably due to a failed, or canceled download".
Depending on the error message I downloaded the file twice and tried to reinstall it.
I couldn't find an useful answer in this forum. All I found was an unsolved thread on this issue.
System and Development Software installed: Windows 7 Home Premium, Microsoft Visual C# Express, Microsoft Visual C++ Express, Kinect SDKWho knows an answer?
Thanks in advance
Uwe

You will need to uninstall rds on that machine or try it on another machine.
For example if you have downloaded the "Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio 4.exe" to c:\downloads, then open cmd in administrator mode and cd to c:\downloads. Then run "Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio 4.exe" /V"/lv log.txt". This should created a log.txt in c:\downloads.

What version of Visual C# express do you have installed? RDS is looking for 2010 & .NET 4.Monday, September 3, 2012 3:58 PMModerator

I'm sorry you are having this trouble.
You seem to be one of the luck few who has bumped into this issue. Our best bet at getting to a solution is to get verbos logs generated from the failed install. Hopefully these would help us understand the issue.
To get the install log, use the
The istaller is "InstallShield" but internally it also uses an msi package. To get a log from the MSI, you will have to pass-through options to the MSI installer like this...
Passing parameters to the MSI package /v The /v command-line parameter enables you to pass parameters supported by Windows Installer through setup.exe to the MSI package. For example, you can create and save a verbose log file to a location of your choice by passing the /L parameter through setup.exe to the MSI package. To create the log file, type: setup.exe /v"/lv log.txt"

I want to install the Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio 4 and downloaded it directly from microsoft.com. When I run the .exe file a window pops up with the requirements that will be installed before installing the RDS:
- MS CCR and DSS Runtime
- NVIDIA Physx System Software Microsoft CCR and DSS Runtime could not be found
I push install - error
"The files for installation requirement Microsoft CCR and DSS Runtime could not be found. The installation will now stop. This is probably due to a failed or canceled download"
I am using
Windows 7 o.s.
It’s never been installed on the box before
I have been working with Kinect for Windows (and all its requirements)
I am logged on as the system administrator
Microsoft CCR and DSS are not listed in /control panel->Programs
This has been previously posts. It is checked as resolved but I can’t see a resolution

This has been reported a few times, but we have been unable to reproduce the problem.
Our only hope is to get logs from the install. This has been requested, but unfortunately we have not gotten any.
To create install logs, please do what is described in this thread...

Are you still having this problem? Have you been able to generate logs?Thursday, September 20, 2012 1:25 AM

I have tried to generate the logs - but it has not worked for me.
I went to the dos prompt - changed to the down load subdirectory - and ran the setup routine you described.
It basically said nothing to run. Apparently I need a bit more guideance to execute the log generation.
Yor help is greately appreciated. I want to get the log to you. A little more direction on how to run it file would get me their.
Thank you - Jerry
