Is there a way to encrypt user data such as cookies and viewstate? I've been reading about how easy it is for hackers to get data from a users cookie? I saw a video on FireSheep where this guy hacked easily got into someones facebook account...What are different ways to prevent this from happening when creating a new site?

Hi , you can use Encryption techniques on the values stored in cookies or viewstate and use it. so that some short of security will be there.
