Not able to add VM Domain Controller which is also a VM RRS feed

  • Question

  • Firs of all I don't know if its OK to have this Query here as it is related to Oracle VirtualBox.... using this as it is free. :)

My Query : I have installed 2 Windows Serv 2003 34 bit OS on 2 VMs that I have created in the Virtual Box.

I have made the first Virtual Machine(VM1) as a Domain controller, given a static IP 192.168.XX.XX, as this is my DC the DNS server is also 192.168.XX.XX. Now I want to add the other VM2 to the domain, but not able to do so. In the TCP/IP of VM2 I have given the IP of the VM1 ie. 192.168.XX.XX. IPCONFIG shows that the DNS is 192.168.XX.XX. but when I try set the domain of VM2 from my computer --> properties --> computername --> change --> member of : Domain = XXXX.com. I get the message stating that "A domain controller for the domain XXXX.com cannot be contacted"

Note : Adapter1 for VM1 is Attached to NAT  and Adapter2 is attached to INTERNAL NETWORK

Same are the settings of VM2.

    Appreciate your response.
