ESC/POS Raw Printing RRS feed

  • Question

  • I was playing around with an Epson Thermal Receipt Printer and got it working with ESC/POS and a windows store app. Just wondered is this allowed within the store just to print to a receipt printer? I see Microsoft started this entire POS thing and support for Magtek card readers, however printing is very limited, if we can use this method it would solve all the problems else I can require a customer to download a windows service that communicates to the app as a separate second install, which I would think would be allowed,

  • Hi ZuechB,

Sorry to tell but if you publish your app to the store, hardly to communicate with localhost windows service, if you are working on an enterprise app, everything could be possible, see this for more information: Brokered Windows Runtime Components for side-loaded Windows Store apps

For your first question, I don't know if this is possible, you may need to validate if the DLL you list here is possible, for instance winspool.Drv is capable with Windows Store App.
