    I'm looking at a project that will be using Oracle as the database and that database is hosted on a AIX 6.1 (Unix) server for the production environment, is there any issues that I may face from my web app when trying to connect to the Oracle Database when I move from our dev environment to the production environment? Our dev database environment is a Windows 2003 server.

    No.

    Your application will use the Windows based Oracle client that can communicate with all other Oracle platforms just fine.

    Common problems encoutered are:

    FIREWALLS!!!

    ODP.NET version conflicts between your app and the Oracle database.

    PERMISSIONS!!!
