Minimum Adgroup Bids set to 0 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

What is the purpose of setting the minimum adgroup bids to 0?   According to the docs http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb414827.aspx : For ad group bids, any bid amount that is zero is automatically set to the minimum bid amount.

We would like to control the match type of the adgroups by setting the unwanted match types bids to 0,  so the keywords that corresponding adgroup inherit the same settings for the bid match types.  Is there are reason that these bids need to be set to a default rather than keeping them at 0?

    Thanks,

  • If you don't want a match type, you need to explicitly set the keyword-level bid to 0. If you want a keyword to inherit the adGroup bid, set the keyword level match value to null.

AdGroup level default bids will always have a non-zero default value.
