How can we achieve a blur effect like Vista ??? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've noticed when working with Blend 3 that when a Blur Effect is applied to a semi-transparent window, it does NOT blur anything behind the window (such as the desktop), but only blurs the children of the window.

Is there any way to achieve the effect we see in Vista in which a window has a blurry transparent background that affects anything behind the window?

  • You can find a behavior here:

applying this to your project should achieve this.

  • Perfect, thanks !!

May I ask why a behavior has the ability to do this and not an effect? I don't quite understand behaviors...
